Science North Holding Regional Youth Workshops

Science North is touring northwestern Ontario with a program that educates young people about coding, programming and robotics.

Senior Staff Scientist Emily Kirton says they are holding sessions in Sioux Lookout, Pickle Lake, Lac Seul First Nation and Ignace next week and you must visit the local libraries to pre-register.

Kirton says kids will work with programmable robots during the free workshops.

Kirton calls the sessions very hands on and interactive.

It’s geared towards kids aged 7-12 but Kirton says younger kids can still connect with the learning.

Kirton says learning to code at a young age helps with analytical thinking and problem solving techniques.

Here are the dates for the workshops:
July 30 – Sioux Lookout Library
July 31 – Pickle Lake Library
August 1 – Lac Seul FN (am) and Ignace (pm)
