Questions Raised About Taxing Northern Medical Flights

The Federal NDP is taking aim at new HST rules taxing Northern Ontario’s medical transportation system.
MP Charlie Angus claims the government has decided to apply the HST to bio-medical flights that have already been approved by the Ontario Ministry of Health.
Angus says they should be going after off-shore tax havens instead of shaking down vital medical services in the north.
Minister of National Revenue Kerry-Lynne Findlay didn’t directly address the question about medical flights but instead stated the government has zero tolerance on international tax invasion.
