Questions Raised Surrounding Fluoride Vote

Questions have been raised about the outcome of the fluoride vote last
Municipal Election.
At Monday night’s Council meeting, one Dryden taxpayer questioned the
Northwestern Health Unit and the process they followed leading up to the
vote.
The City resident is concerned the Health Unit launched a media campaign during
the election without registering with the Clerk’s Office first.
He adds he doesn’t like the fact public funds were used to campaign in favour
of the fluoride issue.
City Clerk Colleen Brousseau wouldn’t comment on specifics noting all of the rules
are spelled out in the Ontario Municipal Act.
Brousseau says the City has received general inquiries but stresses its up to
the electorate to seek legal advise and deal with the issue through the Superior Court
of Justice.
Dryden residents decided to put fluoride back in the drinking water in
November by voting 56% in favour of the move in a plebisite.
