Quiet West Nile Season

The Northwestern Health Unit is reporting a very quiet start to the
west nile season.
Spokesperson Al Mathers says 3-birds in the Kenora area have been
collected and they all tested negative for the virus.
Last year, only 7-birds contracted the west nile virus, all in the Fort
Frances area.
The first positive case in Northwestern Ontario has been reported in
Thunder Bay.
The Health Unit stresses there is little threat to humans but the public
should take precautions including covering up and using repellant.
