The RCMP is out with a warning to Ontario residents about a telephone scam.
Someone has been calling around the province identifying themselves as an RCMP officer calling to collect fines or income tax.
The caller informs the victims must pay immediately or will be arrested within 24 hours.
In most cases, the number for RCMP appears on the victim’s call display.
They want you to know the RCMP doesn’t contact individuals for the purpose of collecting fines or taxes.
