Females in Northwestern Ontario are being advised about a Canada-wide recall of a certain birth control pill.
The affected product is Alysena 28, which may contain two rows of sugar pills, while the proper packaging should have only one row.
As a result, the effectiveness of the pill may be reduced.
Manager of Sexual Health Programs with the Northwestern Health Unit Gillian Lunny says they don’t dispense that brand of pill, local pharmacies may.
Females are advised to use a non-hormonal method on contraception such as condoms, or abstain from sex until they seek medical advice.
The Northwestern Health Unit offers free condoms, the emergency contraceptive pill and pregnancy tests.
