A lake sturgeon caught on the Rainy River has been identified as a new record by the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources.
Jack Burke of Stillwater caught the fish on May 4 using a muskie rod his fishing partner had loaned him.
The fish measured in at 73 inches long and 30 inches in girth, surpassing the previous record by 3 inches, set by two separate anglers in April of last year.
Burke says it took 45 minutes to reel in.
