Recycle Association Future Uncertain

The future of the region’s recycling association is looking more uncertain.
Faced with mounting debt, the Northwest Ontario Recycle Association has asked municipalities to pay 70 percent more in per capita levies.
That means many municipalities are taking a hard look at whether they want to stay with the organization or look at alternatives.
Sioux Lookout and the Township of Alberton are the latest communities to announce their intention to leave.
Kenora announced in December it was leaving NORA at the end of June.
Dryden City Councillor Brian England sits on the NORA board.
England says the City of Dryden is prepared to support NORA for now at least.
However, he adds like other municipalities in the region, the city will be weighing its options.
England says larger municipalities such as Dryden are mandated by the province to recycle while communities with less than 5-thousand people don’t have to recycle.
