Recycling Costs Increase

Municipalities in the region will have to pay more for recycling starting today.
The Northwest Ontario Recycle Association is hiking its per capita levies by a hefty 70 percent.
NORA chair Dennis Brown says there is some concern about smaller municipalities wanting to pull out of the organization because of the increases.
However, Brown says NORA had no choice but to hike levies to prevent it from being a money-losing operation.
The City of Kenora has already said it intends to leave NORA in six months time.
But Brown feels most residents in the region are in favour of recycling and are recycling more and more every year.
