The Mayor of Red Lake says a move to connect Pikangikum to the Ontario power grid is a game changer.
Phil Vinet is passing along his congratulations to the entire community, noting it’s a great investment and a major step forward.
Vinet says the move will help boost social development in Pikangikum, noting First Nations communities need to be “energized”.
He suggests that providing reliable energy is a step towards other economic opportunities,
Vinet says it’s time for clean energy for Pikangikum and providing the quality of life that we all take for granted.
He adds the investment is all about “Canadians helping Canadians”.
