A branding change for the English River Miners in the Superior International Junior Hockey League.
The Board of Directors and membership have voted unanimously to change their name to the Red Lake Miners.
Community Liaison Director Warren Badiuk says the change allows them to have an identity of who they are and where they play.
Badiuk says the change should help them with recruiting, corporate sponsorship and general identification of their location and area.
He adds the Red Lake area has been synonymous with the mining industry for over a century and they look forward to representing the area with their new name.
The Red Lake Miners begin their sixth season with preseason games with Fort Frances September 14th and 15th.
