Reginald Johnson

In Loving Memory of Reginald Johnson. Reg was born in Dryden on December 20, 1942 to Henry and Doll Johnson. Although he spent sometime in Thunder Bay, he lived the rest of his life in the Dryden area. He met and married his wife Delia in 1967. Together they had three children Terri, Sam, and Russell. For a number of years he was involved in the Road Construction and maintenance field. Then in 1983 he started the bulk oil business and operated this until 1994 when health problems forced him to retire. Racing cars had been an important part of his life and he started doing this in 1968 and continuing for four years there after. In 1990 he and his wife commenced rebuilding the racetrack, which became well known as the Northwood Raceway. Reg had also resumed racing cars in 1991. This venture grew into a large and popular enterprise. In earlier years bowling, curling, and travel throughout the U.S.A. filled much of his leisure time. He was also a member of the Moose lodge for over 25 years. Although his recent hobbies were in the automotive field, he enjoyed fabricating things such as tabletops from rock brought in from his claim in the Thunder Bay area. Most important of all was spending time with family in particular his cherished grandchildren. His friends would gather in the garage at home, where they would also have to entertain Reg’s dear pets Daisy and Willie. These pets were an important part of his life and kept him company. Reg enjoyed his early morning coffee gang gatherings everyday between 4 nad 5 a.m. just to catch up on local gossip and news.Reg will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his mother Doll Johnson, his children Terri (Ian), Sam (Paula) and Russell (Lindsay). Also his beloved grandchildren Kyle, Alexis, Megan, Bryan and Jade. Also surviving are his brother Harley (Chris) from Lacombe, Alberta, sisters Faye (Murray) of Minnitaki, and Judy (Ernie) of Dryden. He was predeceased by his father Henry, and his wife Delia.
