Municipal leaders from across the Region have accepted in principal
the creation of a new regional development body.
The authority was introduced at the annual KDMA meeting in Kenora
by the Northwestern Ontario Municipal Association and Spokesperson Ian
Angus says it would be resonsible for developing the economy of the area.

The body received a cool reception from some delegates at the weekend
conference including Kenora Mayor Len Compton.

Compton says they support the principals behind the authority but stresses
more research is needed.
Final approval of the development of the agency will come at the NOMA
meeting in April.
