Regional Fishery Enforcement Blitz Leads To Three Charges

A successful enforcement blitz at the Ontario/Manitoba boundary by conservation officers.

Most anglers at a Highway 17 check-stop on August 24th were found to be complying with provincial fishing regulations.

80-vehicles were stopped during a five hour operation and only three charges were laid, all related to bringing live leeches into Ontario for bait.

Other charges pending include making a false statement and obstructing a fisheries officer.

The movement was focused on fishery and invasive species regulations.
