New High School Football Season Opens Today For DHS

The curtain opens Thursday on a new Winnipeg High School Football season.

The Dryden Eagles are on the road against the Vincent Massey Vikings.

Defensive Coordinator Neil McLeod says there are a lot of unknown’s as they play in their first year in the ‘AAA’ division.

However, McLeod says they believe they can compete against the top level of competition.

He notes they have had a real crisp week of practice and everyone is coming together.

McLeod stresses they are at full strength and in a good position.

The Eagles haven’t been able to solve the Brandon based team in four previous match-up’s.

McLeod says the Vikings are a very well coached, solid team, but the Eagles are looking to get the monkey off their back.

The 3:00pm game between Dryden and Brandon is being played in Winnipeg to make it more fair on travel for both teams.

The Eagles will serve as the “Home” team.
