Mining exploration companies in Northern Ontario are expected to benefit from the Trudeau government’s move to extend a tax credit for five years.
Thunder Bay-Rainy River MP Don Rusnak explains it was part of last weeks economic statement.
The 15% tax credit is given to anyone who invests in mining exploration.
Rusnak says this gives mining companies five years of certainty.
Meantime, the Trudeau Liberals are pledging support for local media.
The government is setting up an independent panel to look at ways to assist local outlets.
Rusnak says money will be set aside for the study.
The Liberal member is also calling for calm in the House of Commons.
Rusnak isn’t impressed with recent heckling, primarily surrounding the delivery of the economic statement.
He feels the way the Opposition behaved was not respectful and bordered on childish.
