Premier-elect Doug Ford is being urged to keep the Ministry of Indigenous Relations and Reconciliation intact.
There have been reports that the Ministry might be on the chopping block as the Ford administration looks to streamline cabinet.
But newly elected Kiiwetinoong candidate, Sol Mamakwa says that could have a profound and negative impact on aboriginal people in the province.
The NDP member says the ministry has helped resolve some long standing claims and improved relations with first nations and the province.
He says any suggestion that the Ministry of Indigenous Relations be dismantled sends a message that the government plans to ignore the calls to action by the Truth and Reconciliation Commission.
