Celebrating success and preparing for the potential challenges that lie ahead.
That is what the Keewatin-Patricia District School Board is doing as they saw growth in the past year in aspects like graduation rates and enrolment.
Director of Education Sean Monteith says grad results demonstrated some pretty serious improvements in terms of achievement in certain students demographic areas where kids have not done historically well.
The work won’t end in the Summer as the Board is working on a number of capital projects, two major ones in Sioux Lookout.
Monteith says construction of the new Sioux North High School continues and they are nearing the finish line.
He adds a more than $2-million daycare and early learning project will be moving forward.
As for next year, Monteith mentions there is a lot of unknown’s right now due to a new provincial government.
Monteith says he’s not going to speculate but it’s safe to say that there will be some changes.
