The 17-year-old suspect in the La Loche shooting in Saskatchewan makes his first court appearance Monday. Four people were killed in the Friday incident at the high school. One of the victims was a former student of Lakehead University, 35-year-old Adam Wood, who was working in the northern Saskatchewan community as a teacher. The school is also home to former Dryden resident Greg Hatch. The school gym is named after him because of his involvement in the community, the school and in local athletics. According to a friend of Hatch on Facebook, Greg was in the school at the time and was locked in his office. The report says the shooter was outside his office but Hatch was not harmed. The suspect, who can’t be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, faces four counts of first degree murder, seven counts of attempted murder and unauthorized possession of a firearm.
