Nearly 2,000 people are expected to participate in the Canadian Cancer Society’s Relay for Life today (Friday).
Opening ceremonies begin at 6:45 p.m. in Dryden, Sioux Lookout, and Red Lake.
Individuals will walk around the track for 12-hours to raise money for cancer research.
Event Coordinator Margaret Saville says one of the event highlights is the luminary ceremony at 10 o’clock.
People who want to get involved can still register a team, purchase a luminary, or pledge someone on a team.
Saville notes this year has grown with more teams in all three communities.
Dryden has eight more than last year with 30. Sioux Lookout has 17 and Red Lake has 22 teams registered.
The Relay features food, live entertainment and games.
