The families affected by a tragic fire in the Rainy River district exactly 70 years ago were remembered Friday.
A monument to recognize those who died in the fire was unveiled at a ceremony in Dance Township.
Rosanne Farmer says it’s important to the people who once inhabited the area.
The fire was caused when the burning of brush got out of control.
17-people perished in the blaze.
