Report on Self-Governance

A new study on Native Affairs says many First Nations in Northwestern
Ontario would like to see some form of self-governance.
The Public Policy Report looked at ways to generate economic
development in Aboriginal communities.
Author Gordon Shanks says the Indian Act stifles economic growth and
creates a dependent society.
Shanks adds Provincial and Federal programs should be streamlined and
those programs should have the ability to support First Nation business.
