The U.S. Government has lowered the softwood lumber duties Canadian forestry companies pay.
However, that doesn’t include Resolute Forest Products, who saw their duties increase slightly.
Company Spokesperson Seth Kursman says they don’t believe their products should face any impediments.
Kursman say if their rate was 3% in total, they would still be disappointed.
He believes their mills in Ontario and Quebec should have nothing but absolute and non-disruptive access to the U.S. market place.
Kursman says this is a concern for those who work in the forest industry and the Canadian economy.
He calls the revamped duties a capricious decision by the U.S. administration.
