Resolute Forest Products is refusing to sign the new Canadian Boreal Forest Agreement effectively killing the proposal. Spokesperson Seth Kursman says the agreement, signed by 19 other forest companies, is a bad deal.
Kursman says it would have had a detrimental affect on communities and First Nations throughout the north.
He says the agreement would have cancelled the re-start of the Ignace and Atikokan mills.
Seven environmental organizations in the the country have also signed the deal.
