Restricted Fire Zone Remains In Effect

Despite a special weather statement of heavy rain throughout the day, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry says a Restricted Fire Zone will remain in place.

The ground is still dry and crews are dealing with some lightning caused fires.

Four new fires were reported yesterday, three that are not under control.

Officials say they will be monitoring the situation throughout the day.

Environment Canada is calling for the rain to end after Saturday, with sunshine and warmer temperatures through the rest of the long weekend.

Long range forcasts are predicting temperatures of 26 and 27 as we return to work next week.
