Revised Financial Picture for Health Unit

The Northwestern Health Unit’s deficit is much smaller than expected.
The original total was pegged at over $250,000 because of the court battle over second hand smoke.
However, the Province has helped fund the legal dispute with a donation of $125,000 and the Health Board took an equal amount out of reserves.
As a result, Officials are reporting a $6,000 deficit which is related solely to mandatory programs.
