New Gold says its been plagued by operational and mechanical issues at its Rainy River mine site.
Vice-President of Operations Cory Atiyeh says they’ve seen some wear on machinery that’s come quicker than expected.
Atiyeh says the issues have forced New Gold to revise its outlook, now forecasting about 210,000 to 250,000 ounces of gold to be produced this year.
Despite the challenges, the mine still produced around 55,000 ounces of gold during the last three months.
Atiyeh says they are now working towards processing at least 24,000 tonnes of ore through its mill a day.
