Road Maintenance In North An Issue In Toronto

The provincial government is being challenged to improve winter road maintenance in northwestern Ontario.
Kenora-Rainy River MPP Sarah Campbell says her office was inundated with complaints Monday about road closures in the region over the weekend after the first major snowfall of the season.
Campbell says the contractors should have been prepared and notes the province allegedly invested more money to add more snowplows.
Campbell stresses the region came to a stand-still on the weekend.
She stresses that was the second major shutdown in the past two weeks and notes road maintenance has been inadequate.
Transportation Minister Glen Murray says the government is putting more resources towards winter road maintenance, but says if there is a problem, he’s willing to come to the region and talk to the local contractor.
