‘Rolling Trout Revue’ Bringing Music To The Region

Ear Falls Trout Fest Organizers have pivoted to offer one-of-a kind solar powered pop up concerts across the region with the ‘2021 Rolling Trout Revue’.

In an effort to spark conversations about energy, long time Music Producer for the festival and faculty member at the University of Manitoba in Chemistry Devin Latimer explains that attendees will hear music via a ten-foot by six-foot solar-powered sound system.

“It’s just an acknowledgment of all these different ways that you can harness and utilize energy to put on these events. They’re (forms of energy) all important, they all have pros, they all have cons associated with them. Let’s all just learn a little bit more about them, while sitting in the sun and listening to great Canadian woods music.”

The first concert is on today (Wednesday August 11) in Kenora’s at noon (12pm) and Latimer tell us what attendees can expect.

“Fortune Block is our headliner that’s been moving along with us. It’s a new project between Richard Inman a really great Indigenous singer songwriter and Amber Rose Nielson who’s a member of Sweet Alibi, where people may know her from. Then we have a local opener in each of the communities.”

Latimer continues: “To have the festival back in the region means a lot, producing some music and to be paying some artists, ramping it up and doing something a little different it means a lot. It’s an important part of my year, being out here and to get back to Kenora, Ear Falls and Vermilion Bay for the festival, it’s great.”

The next concert is at Bobby’s Corner in Vermilion Bay at 6pm tonight (Wednesday August 11) with the final stop at Ear Falls’ Waterfront Park at noon (12pm) tomorrow (Thursday August 12).

If you can’t make it in person to any of the pop ups, a video of the concert will be streamed a later date on the Trout Forest Music Festival Facebook Page and troutfest.com.
