Rona Ambrose Selected As Conservative Interim Leader

A long-time Conservative MP from the Edmonton area has been elected interim leader of the federal Conservative Party.

Rona Ambrose was selected while the Conservatives held their first caucus meeting since losing power in October’s election.

Any leadership convention for a permanent replacement for Stephen Harper isn’t expected until sometime in the new year.

Ambrose has held eight cabinet posts since 2006 and was most recently the Minister of Health for the Harper government.
