An out-of-court settlement has been reached in a mining dispute between Rubicon Minerals and Wabauskang First Nation.
The agreement allows the mining company to continue exploration work at its Phoenix Gold project near Red Lake.
In turn, the First Nations will drop demands for a judicial review of Rubicon’s closure plan.
The company has also agreed to work with the band on protecting culturally sensitive sites, incorporating native values into its environmental programs and identifying certain benefits for the First Nations.
