The bitter mining dispute between Platinex and the KI First Nation in
Northwestern Ontario may finally come to an end.
An Ontario Superior Court judge is expected to rule Tuesday whether Platinex
will be able to drill on the traditional land formerly known as Big Trout
Lake.
The company was ordered last July to temporarily cease exploration
activity and both sides were told to sit down and resolve the dispute.
The judge ruled at that time that Platinex didn’t properly consult with
the aboriginal community when setting up a mining camp on the KI reserve.
Ruling Expected on KI-Platinex Mining Dispute
