Despite reports of a phone scam circulating the region, C-K-D-R has learned that the Children Emergency Foundation is a charitable organization that is registered with Revenue Canada.
There have been reports from our listeners and PhoneBusters that someone has called asking for a donation for emergency programs.
The foundation does raise money for various projects in Canada helping over 35-thousand needy children.
However, Foundation spokesperson Lucas Turner says they do not raise money for lunch programs in the Vermillion Bay-Dryden area.
Callers say they have received such calls from an apparant foundation spokesperson.
Turner says the nearest community they help fund projects for is Thunder Bay.
