Sarsfield says no municipal levy increase

Municipal governments in the Kenora and Rainy River Districts can breathe a sigh of relief.

After several years of increases, the Northwestern Health unit has agreed to freeze the municipal levy in 2006.

Medical officer of Health for the region, Dr. Pete Sarsfield says thanks to increased provincial funding they will have more money to spend on mandatory services.

N005 Q: …increase servies. (19 secs.)

Sarsfield adds that this region still has the highest per capita levy in Ontario at about 54 dollars.
