School Board Deals with Suspensions

The Provincial Government has changed the way school boards deal with suspensions and expulsions.
Over $210,000 in funding has been allocated to the
Keewatin-Patricia District School Board to offer support programs to suspended students.
Spokesperson Al Wray says changes to the Safe Schools Act will come into effect February first.
The School Board will have to provide students with counselling, support from outside agencies and a non-academic program during their suspension.
The new Legislation states suspended students will have to keep up with their curriculum during their time away from class.
