School Board Receives Aboriginal Learning Report

Trustees with the Keewatin-Patricia District School Board have received a report on how to improve the learning environment for aboriginal students in local schools.
The report is the result of a forum held recently by the public school board called ‘Aboriginal Voices’.
Student Will Landon says they got feedback from 156 students and came up with 5-key recommendations.
Recommendations include a sports program for aboriginal students, a support program from local elders and a way to fund-raise to help students attend school trips.
Cultural awareness training for new teachers is another main recommendation.
