The Keewatin-Patricia District School Board is hoping to work with the Ministry of Education on a strategy to improve math and literacy test results.
Sean Monteith notes it’s a complex issue in northwestern Ontario as different schools have different challenges and support systems available in their community.
Monteith says they continue to struggle in literacy, but notes improvement has been seen in applied math.
He stresses the problem isn’t unique to their board as all school boards are struggling right now.
Monteith notes the province is aware of the issue.
