Scotiabank AIDS Walk For Life Is Coming Up!

Folks in the Dryden area are encouraged to come out and support the Dryden and District AIDS Committee.
Chair Silvia Scheibler says the ‘Scotiabank AIDS Walk for Life’ is happening on September 22nd.
Registration will start at 12:30 at the Northwestern Health Unit, and the walk will begin at 1:00.
Pledge forms can also be picked up at the Health Unit. Scheibler says all proceeds stay in this area, adding that they are the only committee from Thunder Bay to Winnipeg.
The committee is focused on prevention and awareness, and has been a part of events such as the Safe May Long Weekend campaign, Safety Night, Safe Grad, HIV/AIDS Awareness Week and World AIDS Day, if funds are available.
Scheibler says it’s estimated that there are more than 71,000 people living with HIV/AIDS in Canada and that 1/4 of them don’t even know they have it. Currently there is no cure or treatment for AIDS/HIV.
