Sense Of Hope Following Roundtable

Aboriginal delegates are coming from a roundtable on missing and murdered Indigenous women in Ottawa Friday with a sense of optimism.
While there has been no agreement to hold a national inquiry on the subject, many are calling it a start, like Dawn Harvard of the National Native Women’s Association.
Harvard calls the gathering “a break through”.
She says it all can’t happen in one day and is encouraged by the progress made.
Perry Bellegarde, the National Chief of the Assembly of First Nations, says it’s a start and they will continue to push for an inquiry.
Bellegarde it’s nice a strategy is starting to come together.
He also hopes the roundtable can also be the beginning of an Aboriginal justice system in the country.
