Area communities are being asked to raise awareness about prostate cancer.
September is Prostate Cancer Awareness month.
Prostate Cancer Canada spokesperson Dennis Potharst says it’s very important that all men have a discussion with their doctor about the disease, especially when you hit the age of 40.
Potharst says death rates have dropped across Canada over the past 20 years.
However, he stresses that around 4,100 men will still die though every year in the country.
Potharst says we need to pay attention and know what the risks are, in an effort to see that number decrease even more.
