There are weather warnings in some parts of the region.
The Red Lake area is under a Severe Thunderstorm Warning, while Ear Falls is under a Severe Thunderstorm Watch.
Dryden is now under a Severe Thunderstorm Watch.
Environment Canada says thunderstorms are moving into the area from southeastern Manitoba and they are capable of producing very strong wind gusts, up to nickel size hail and heavy rain.
Total rainfall amounts of 100-millimetre or more are possible in areas north and west of Red Lake.
The storms are expected to slowly weaken later Thursday morning.
