Sex Education Curriculum Released

It doesn’t get taught in schools until September, but the provincial government is revealing the details of its new health and physical education curriculum for Ontario students.
Healthy relationships, consent and the risks of “sexting” are some of the topics to be covered beginning with students in grade 1.
Education Minister Liz Sandals says revealing it now gives teachers time to prepare.
The curriculum includes a sexual health component that begins by teaching primary students about the parts of their body and understanding how their body works.
Sandals says while it updates the 1998 curriculum, some of it isn’t new.
Sandals doesn’t see the sex education components as excluding parents.
