Dryden’s Tommy Johnson is receiving a major award for his work promoting fire safety.
The local Shaw Cable producer will receive the award at the Fire Marshal’s Public Safety Council ceremony next Thursday in Toronto.
The Council says they rely on Johnson to cover many of their public education activities and he’s done that through a number of televised events.
Officials add Johnson strives to enhance fire safety education by posting clips on social media.
Council Chair Ted Wieclawek says Johnson is a well-respected and talented individual who has made fire safety his cause.
He adds he’s gone above and beyond the call of duty.
Wieclawek adds that he’s been known to engage with residents and question them on their fire safety knowledge as well as providing them with information and tips.
Dryden Fire Chief Ken Kurz added they are proud of Johnson’s commitment to public fire and safety education that he and Shaw TV supports throughout Northwestern Ontario.
