Shaw Taking Over Norcom

The telecommunications scene in Northwestern Ontario has changed
dramatically.
Calgary based Shaw Communication has entered an agreement to acquire Norcom Telecommunications,
pending CRTC approval.
Shaw would take over operations in Kenora, Red Lake, Sioux Lookout, Ear
Falls, Ignace, and CJBN TV in Kenora.
President Peter Bissonnette says they are excitied about the expansion and notes the deal should be approved in 6 months.
Bissonnette says Shaw will offer its customers high definition television, high-speed internet and eventually telephone service.
Shaw already operates in Dryden, Atikokan, Fort Frances and Thunder Bay.
Norcom staff are expected to make the jump to Shaw however no official announcement has been made.
