Sherwood Robinson

In loving memory of Sherwood Robinson, who passed on peacefully at Princess Court on October 28th, 2005 with family at his side. Sherwood was born in 1919 in Parkbeg Saskatchewan, and relocated with his family to Dryden as a boy. As a young man, Sherwood worked road construction on the Trans-Canada highway and later married his beloved Dorothy Sherwood before serving Canada overseas during World War II. Sherwood returned to Dryden to be with Dorothy, creating a home, where together they raised their family. Sherwood worked many years at the Dryden Paper Mill before retiring in 1982. In recent years, Sherwood relocated to Princess Court to be near his ailing wife. They celebrated 60 years of marriage shortly before her death in 2002. Sherwood loved to listen to music and play the harmonica. He enjoyed watching various sports, going fishing and tinkering with machines and electronics. Throughout his life, Sherwood was guided by his strong Baptist faith. Sherwood was pre-deceased by his wife Dorothy, his parents George and Hazel, his brothers Albert, Elmer, Gordon and Murney and his sisters Vada, Esther, Grace and Agnes. Sherwood is survived by his son Jim (Judy) of Thunder Bay, his daughters Pat (Wayne) of Winnipeg and Garra (Alf) of Dryden, eight grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and his special friend Mary. The family wishes to thank Dr. Dove and the staff at Princess Court for their care and kindness. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held to celebrate the life of Sherwood Robinson at a later date. If friends so desire, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Princess Court Elevator Fund care of the Stevens Funeral Home “Moffat Chapel”, 50 Albert St PO Box 412 Dryden ON, P8N 2Z1.
