Client based health care for Shoal Lake #39 First Nation.
That’s the goal according to Chief Fawn Wapioke as they move towards alternative integrated service delivery models.
Wapioke says the next step is securing funding.
She says they want to focus on the person and not the organization when looking at how to treat someone.
Wapioke adds the unique aspect of this process is the decision making ability for the First Nation in the delivery of health care.
She says the change comes from a 3 year project that found many services being offered at different levels throughout the Kenora area.
Wapioke says the new systems will help strengthen partnerships with health care organizations throughout the region.
