A northwestern Ontario MP doesn’t believe this past week’s shooting at Parliament Hill will renew debate on better gun legislation.
Its been more than two years since the Conservative government put an end to Canada’s gun registry program.
Thunder Bay-Rainy River MP John Rafferty was among opposition members to support its end.
With a rifle being used in Wednesday’s shooting in Ottawa, Rafferty doubts the government will rethink the registry.
Rafferty says it was ironic though that a bill pertaining to the transport of handguns was to be discussed on the day of the shooting.
