A 27-year-old Southern Ontario man has been sentenced to a year in
jail in relation to a shooting incident at a Sioux Lookout Bar last
February.
Court heard that Conrad Burns was at the Fifth Avenue Bar and Grill
and after an incident he returned to a friends house where he then made
disparaging remarks about First Nation people.
Court was told that Burns grabbed a .22 calibre rifle and returned to
the establishment where he fired several shots at the building which was
closed at the time.
He was later apprehended in Ignace.
No one was injured in the incident.
Court heard that Burns had the rifle to protect himself from the area’s
wildlife.
