Shoplifting On The Rise

Dryden Police report a number of shoplifting incidents at the Dryden Safeway store on Friday.
During one incident, police say staff members saw a man conceal items under his jacket.
Staff confronted the man after he left the store without paying.
Police say 48-year-old Wayne Polowek of Sioux Lookout has been charged with theft under 5-thousand dollars and will appear in court in January.
Police say they responded to reports of three more shoplifters at Safeway a few hours later.
Staff say they noticed two young women steal items from the store and leave without paying.
Both girls, under age 18, have been charged with theft under 5-thousand dollars and will appear in court in February.
A third male youth was issued a trespassing notice ordering him to stay away from the Safeway store.
