Sioux Lookout Budget Update

It’s back to the books for Sioux Lookout council.
At last night’s budget meeting, there was talk of a 4.5 per cent tax increase but Mayor Dennis Leney says most councilors are looking around 0.8 but no more then 2.
Leney adds that past developments such as the Centennial Center and train station have put them a bit behind the eight ball, but they have the reserves to cover services that they need.
Another finding was that their residential rate went up a bit but the commercial rate went down, which resulted in a negative increase for the Municipal Property Assessment Corporation (MPAC).
Leney says he thinks things will be in their favour for the next four years and they aren’t looking at any service cuts.
